A friend in the beauty community reached out to me recently and asked if she could send me a care package. One product that my sweet friend sent to me was De Mamiel’s Brightening Cleanse and Exfoliate. I have never sampled this brand before, so I was very excited to try this product.
While I don’t usually use powder cleansers and have been leaning towards chemical exfoliants, this physical exfoliant from De Mamiel gently polishes my skin without irritating it. I love mixing it with Ranavat’s Luminous Ceremony Cream Cleanser for an even more elevated experience.
Packed with clays and botanical powders, this cleanser forms a mousse texture when mixed with water. I’m curious about the pH of this product, as the ingredient that encourages its mousse-like texture is baking soda. The inclusion of this basic (as in chemically, basic) ingredient makes the cleanser feel slippery on the skin. I would be curious to hear more from an esthetician, cosmetic formulator, chemist, or anyone with pH strips laying around about that; I’ve heard all sorts of things about baking soda in skincare.
With that being said, the product leaves my skin exfoliated and soft without stripping it of moisture.
This product smells DIVINE. Notes of sandalwood and vanilla make it smell more like food than skincare.
I received this as a gift from a friend, so it didn’t include original packaging. De Mamiel packages their products in the most enchanting textures and colors; a black and blue cardboard box is the first visual gift you see. The bottle that holds the product is made of a heavy, luxurious violet glass with the brand’s and product’s names printed on it.
