Rose and Water bar soaps piled on top of one another on a slate board

Review: Rose and Water Bar Soap

When lovely Kristina reached out to me with an introduction to her brand, Rose and Water, I couldn’t help but be captivated by it. A botanical-based apothecary that offers small-batch, handmade products, Rose and Water is a woman-owned, cruelty-free business with a commitment to sustainability; the majority of her packaging is reusable, recyclable, or compostable! Since I’m working towards a plastic-free bathroom, I jumped at the chance to try her soaps.

Performance

I am always on the search for a bar soap that isn’t stripping on my sensitive skin, and these are creamy, lather surprisingly well, and leave you feeling clean. I limit use of these soaps to my body (and not my face).

I’ve already made my way through all of these soaps, and I’d have to say my favorite is the geranium and french rose clay. It’s great for sensitive skin, and transports you to a garden in full bloom. Each soap, when placed on a soap holder and kept dry, lasts about 3-4 weeks with daily use.

Scent Profile

Eucalyptus and Rhassoul Clay
This soap’s aroma is woody and herbaceous. It is the perfect unisex scent.

Geranium and French Rose Clay
I love the scent of geranium, and this soap delivers! It smells amazing, and it’s perfect for those who love floral scents. This is, hands-down, my favorite scent of the three soaps!

Tea Tree and Bamboo Charcoal
I love using this soap when I have body acne. The tea tree oil is gentle but effective. It’s not my favorite scent, but this bar of soap is a workhorse more than a show horse. My only gripe about this soap is that the inclusion of bamboo charcoal leaves behind a black residue when you wash off.

Sustainable, compostable cardboard packaging

Overall, I’m so glad I had the chance to experience Rose and Water! This brand ticks so many boxes for me: it’s a small, woman-owned, it’s committed to sustainability, products meticulously by hand in small batches, and the prices are reasonable. What’s not to love?
